Week #6 Picture-a-Day Project

I had a choice between this image and one of my Mother and Father. I think I'll make a separate post for that picture. Now about this one---Can you see the biggest flaw with it? Leave a comment letting me know what you see.

Sometimes even the most common bird can make a pretty Picture. 

This is the same Cross I have been trying to get a good image of. I like the way the gold reflects on the white background. What do you think?

I worked on this image for a bit trying to pull out some details in PS. Truth is, I was getting bored and did not want to wait until sunset, mostly because I did not have a tripod for the long exposure. I think I did a pretty good job, though.

It is becoming a thing, every week I seem to miss a day of photos. This is this weeks missed image. Maybe I'll have to keep track of just how many days I miss during the Project and extend the end to to include the missed days.

However, the next day I pulled out my venerable 5D while I was at Owen Park and got this image right around sunset. Again this one is hand held, so I could not use a very slow shutter speed, but it came out alright though.

Whenever in doubt, I can almost always get one of the great hunter.

Antique Car on July 1

I went to this car show the other day. It was the 50th anniversary and I had hoped it would be special. Not so much, it was your regular show of cars, Muscle cars made in the USA. I think I saw one Mercedes-Benz and maybe an Audi. Honestly, I have seen a better variety of vehicles in some of the “Drive by” cars shows at Ingles parking lots. 

Having said that, if one tries hard enough, sometimes a little treasure can be found. The truth is though, I stopped looking at cars early on and spent a few minutes in the swap meet area.  

Finally, I did see a couple of cars which were interesting.  And I bought two while I was there!

One thing I did learn was to take a picture of the ID sheet so when I get to PP, I can identify the vehicle and owner for future reference.

What do you think if my images, all fair critiques are welcome.

Some old cars

Like most kids, I collected stuff when I was younger I collected stuff. These are are some of the Matchbox cars I had. I am going through the basement of my parents and found a whole collection. I used them as an excuse to work with lighting

What do ya think?
I think I'm gonna have to get some figurines that are scale to the cares and make some tableaus.

More Fantasy

I seem to be going in a trend direction, at least for now. Here is another still life. This one has no real political direction, I just wanted Shrek to save the day for the Dad and his kid.

There is another aspect to these images, a more technical one. Both images are the same, yet the coloring is vastly different. The top image is truest to reality, yet the second one is brighter.

Compositionally, I like the second image. The shadows work nicely and the angle is a little more aggressive.

Which one pleases you more?

Teddy in a basket

My friend just bought this wire basket and said i could take a few of it. I have a picture or two if it with fruit which I am still trying to get the shadows out of, but I like this one more.

Music sheet background

More with the the still life. I have been doing a good bit of close up and still life in the home. It is boring to just use a white or black back ground, for most subjects though they isolate so well. The black, especially uses so much light! So, here is another idea. Do you like the way the bottom of the music sheet is in focus, yet fades to obscurity? Let me know what you think!

Another attempt

A friend let me have these earrings to see what I could do with them. Well, the first attempt was not so good, so I did a little research on still life and staging and this is what I came up with.

Weddings and rings

My beautiful Runtyun has many friends, some of whom have parents who are starting in love again. I was lucky enough to be asked to come to one of them. I brought my camera and was fortunate to get this shot.

A new, old ballon

There is a new consignment shop right around the corner from us and they have some pretty cool stuff. I liked this  lamp. It is a boy and girl on a whimsical trip to fantasy land.

Fall is here

I took this au-natural. I did not move anything, not did I create the natural frame.

There was this contest whose theme was the season called Fall. The critique was that it could not be the way nature created it. The leaf placement was too perfect. O well. I know how the shot worked. It is nice and here it is for your enjoyment.

Mother's Day

So, this is a bit of a story... Mom is 91 this year and needs nothing but a smile. I love her but was challenged to find a present she would like. So I decided to get these cats, mother and child. Part of the idea was to get an image that really shows off it's beauty. I will matt and frame it for her to display.
